Quick Question

For those of you using Internet Explorer, do you see my blog like this:

or like this:

If it's like the first, do you know how to make the background show up?

I ask because I'm helping Lovey update her template (which I will let her unveil when it's done), but it doesn't show up on her browser. I checked IE on my computer, and it's not showing up here either. Shows up fine in Firefox.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

EDITED to say: Thank you, Doodaddy!!! You are the wind beneath my wings!

Problem solved, thanks to your "Doo" diligence.

*collective groan*

Hey, shut your yaps and visit his blog. Not only is he technically gifted, he's uber-funny, too! I think I might have found a replacement for this guy.

(Don't look at me, pal. You both live in San Fransisco. How do I know he's not really you anyhow?)

And while you're at it, give Lovey's new template a gander. As she says, it's totally her.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Nope, no pretty ivy in the Internet Exploder version (spelling/pun intended). And, I'll have you know I specifically opened your site with Internet Exploder just to check. I use Mozilla Firefox for everything now, and it rocks.

My own blog shows up wonky in IE, in that the google ads don't show up at all! I have a note into them about that, but I haven't heard back.

My advice? Get everyone to switch to Mozilla Firefox. ;) Just kidding. I wish I had a clue as to why it does that...

Hmmmm ... I see this.

PS I see the ivy in the back. It's probably a CSS setting or something in your HTML.

Momma--thanks for checking! It's driving me crazy.

Jef--you are so bad! (I thought I told you no one's supposed to know about my other site! Shame on you!)

I see it like the first one. I seem to remember having a problem with IE and something to do with formatting, but dang. I can't remember what was wrong or how I fixed it. Sorry.

Doodaddy said...

I can fix it! In your style section, there's a line about your background. It looks like this:

background: url("http://averygrayday.googlepages.com/Background12_1.jpg/Background12_1-full;init:.jpg")repeat

See how there's no space between the right parenthesis and the word "repeat"? That's freaking out IE. Add a space, so it looks like:

background: url("http://averygrayday.googlepages.com/Background12_1.jpg/Background12_1-full;init:.jpg") repeat

And you should be good. Looks OK for me, anyway.

Feel free to e-mail if things are still wonky!

Dd.

I use IE and see the first one. Sounds like you've got the advice you need to work it all out.

P.S. I had to check out your secret site. You are a woman of many talents apparently!

Sorry Avery, but I am fire-foxy too. Hopefully doodaddy helped you out.

i see bricks and ivy... though it is entirely possible that I hallucinated them what with the nyquil I've been on... of course I don't use explorer... maybe this wasn't a question for me to answer.

Doodaddy--you just rocked my world!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

It works! Hooray!!

You are not doing anything wrong. IE sucks. Tell everyone IE sucks.

And everyone who has not already done so should.....

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL FIREFOX!

It is free, and does not suck.

Just checked with IE. The ivy thing loads. SLOWLY. Even with my high speed DSL service. Firefox loads so much faster - because IE sucks. I can not say "IE sucks" enough. It sucks to the second power to the tenth power times 10 million. That much. And I am probably still low balling the figure by a few factors of 100.

Groovy--oh, man. A whole new world is going to open up for you now! Well, on my blog anyway.

Terri--I can't believe Jef outed me like that, can you?!

Miss Burrows--he did, but thanks!

Cami--bricks and ivy? Whoa! That is way off! Maybe you should slow down on that 'Quil!

Ig--tell me how you really feel.

I usually see the first version but now that you asked I see Ivy everywhere so I guessed you figured it out :)

Groovy Mom said...

I always read it in Firefox. It's been a big big world since day one.

Why so image-conscious?

Avery Gray said...

Foof--I did, thanks to Doodaddy!

Groovy--tricky little minx!

M@--I'm not. Lovey couldn't see her new template on IE, and she won't switch to Firefox because she's as stubborn as a mule. Just thought I'd ask.

i see you have solved your problem, so i'm *not* going to open up in my-least-favorite-application. firefox rox!

avery's blog rox!

don't tell people i think so, though, i think i'm supposed to hate you until we make peace. SHHHH!

Internet Explorer? Oh hell no. I use FIREFOX for internet viewing.

Eh, I had a good run as your fave. I have no regrets.

pbthhh...I am NOT stubborn as a mule. They cave too easily.

My template's pretty, and it's girly, lalala-lala...

R said...

I don't see it either way. So there.

I love firefox. Sigh.

Avery Gray said...

Holly--your secret is safe with me!

Meleah--cool people use Firefox. Chumps use IE.

Mike--aw, Mike, you know you're still my favorite.

Lovey--if the mule shoes fit...

R--then how in the world are you commenting?

Jo--and I love you. *sigh*
